There is a new product available for psoriasis patients

About 2–3 % of the world population suffers from psoriasis. In the Czech Republic, according to experts, it could be over 160,000 people. This disease, although not life threatening, can occur anywhere on the body and can reduce the patient’s quality of life to a great extent. Czech patients with psoriasis can now use a new product, made from plant extracts and oils.

"Psoriasis is treatable, but not entirely curable", said to journalists Frantisek Novotny from Prague’s sanatorium Pro Sanum; onset of the disease is genetic. The new products – gel, cream and oil from Dr Michaels series are, according to Novotny, reported to have up to 90 % efficacy within a selected group of his patients."

New products are available over-the-counter in Czech pharmacies, where they are sold as cosmetic products. "They will definitely do no harm and there will be no side effects", stated dermatologist Jana Hercogova from the Prague hospital Na Bulovce. According to the manufacturer of the product it can also be used for some other skin diseases and may even be used by children.

The disease occurs when the body‘s immune system generates fast skin cell growth. On the surface of the skin it creates red, scaly and inflamed areas that can itch, crack, bleed and that are extremely painful.

More than a quarter of patients suffer from so called psoriatic arthritis which causes inflammation and swelling of hands, feet or large joints.
