Diagnosis and areas affected by Atopic dermatitis
Diagnosis will be determined by a dermatologist based on the course of eczema (beginning in the childhood), clinical picture (skin symptoms, dryness of the skin, itching). Sometimes it is necessary to prove the diagnosis by a microscopic examination of a skin sample.
Most often affected areas are skin folds-elbow and knee pits, neck, eyelids, face, wrists, arms and legs, but also the whole skin surface can be affected. Skin lesions are based on the age of the patient- babies are first affected on face and trunk and then it gradually moves to the skin folds.
